This is just a brief request for my returning readers.
These past few weeks I have been hitting the gas on getting my work further into the world– sending finished essays and pieces of Reorganism to potential publishers, pitching unposted pieces to magazines for potential fit, proposing presentations to local organizations. All of this is very, very slow and fairly demoralizing. I am comfortable publishing my thinking but not promoting myself as important. The latter part keeps me boxed in.
If you read me through either site visits or email, it would be incredibly helpful if you would share or forward anything of mine that had an effect on you with others in your life that you think might also appreciate it. I asked this of my Instagram story followers this week my site traffic jumped immediately.
Beyond that, social media promotion requires a level of constant maintenance I can’t sustain and is probably the least authentic pathway for my work anyway. I don’t yet have a network in this corner because I write from a tiny rural cabin or in obscure public corners with no formal education. But “Hey, I read this and I want another person to see it,” is still the reflex that builds careers. I am actively intervening in the thought that “it couldn’t happen for me, though.”
In addition to that,
I told you on January 1st that the book was coming this year. I started to post chapters here because I learned that getting a publisher on board with an idea is substantially more difficult than writing the thing, and self-publishing is expensive.
That being said, I am still looking at having the manuscript complete by the end of the year. Time will tell what changes then.
Once again, thank you for being here.
